There is not much to see in Jolfa except Darre Sham Church (St. Stephen's Church) which is located16 km (approximately 9.5 miles) west of Jolfa. Darre Sham Church (Church of St. Stephen) is built in the hills and its oldest parts dates back to 14th century (present building dates back to 16th century). This remarkable well preserved monastery is known for its exterior reliefs with angels and crosses. The carved stones on the outer walls are very fine
The monastery is located in remote area and is close to Azarbaijan border so it is a good idea to visit by a tour or check with Iranian officials if you plan to visit the church independently. Enjoy the scenery.

The Aras River rises near Erzurum, Turkey.
